John F. (Jack) Egan

John F. Egan (Jack), of the Green Ridge Section of Scranton, PA formerly of Mendham, NJ joined his beloved wife, Kathy, in eternal life on May 13, 2022.  Born in West Orange, NJ on July 25, 1925, Jack was the oldest child of the late John and Ellen Egan. He attended Our Lady of the Lake Elementary School in Verona and graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in West Orange. He served as a US Marine in WWII stationed in China. Jack graduated from Villanova University and was a civil engineer, retiring as VP of Conduit & Foundation, Clifton, NJ in 1990.

Jack and Kathy raised their family in Mendham, NJ where they were members of St. Joseph’s Church and School. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Mendham Planning Board, and the expansion of St. Joseph’s School in the late 1990’s. After retirement he taught ESL at El Primer Paso in Dover, NJ and SCOLA at United Neighborhood Centers in Scranton.

Surviving are children John and wife Jayne of Denver, CO; Paul and wife Mary Ann of Johnson City, NY; Anne of Macungie, PA; Eileen Cosgrove and husband John of Scranton, PA; James of Hopatcong, NJ; and Michael of Scranton PA; grandchildren are Sarah Egan Turner and husband Daniel, Bryan Egan and wife Krissy, Bridget Cosgrove, Molly Cosgrove, Erin Cosgrove, Ryan Egan, Jim Egan and Isabella Egan; and great grandchildren are Kyle Turner, Abby Turner, Austin Egan and Jaxson Egan. He is also survived by his sister Kay Smith and brother Bill Egan.

He was preceded in death by brother James Egan and sister Helen Regan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday May 21 at 10 am in St. Clare’s Church 2251 N. Washington Ave. Scranton by Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn.

Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.
