Margaret “Peggy” Geda

Margaret “Peggy” Geda, 92, a resident of Marywood Heights, passed away Friday morning after an illness.  She was the widow of Bernard “Brooksy”Geda who passed away on September 21, 1997.

Born 1930 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Anna Walsh McDonough and Joseph McDonough and attended West Scranton Senior High School.   Peggy was a life-long member of her beloved Holy Cross Church in the Bellevue section of Scranton until its closing.   She worked in the garment industry for many years.  Later on in her working life, she began a very fulfilling career with Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency
She loved cooking for family, friends and neighbors. She was a loyal and true friend in good times and bad times. Her love and devotion for her grandchildren and great-children was unmeasurable.

Surviving are her children Paul Geda and wife Melinda, Flagers Beach FL, Laurie Geda Klonoski and husband Richard, Scranton, Gloria Geda Colosimo and husband Frank, Scranton and Gerry Geda, Millsboro, DE, her sister Gloria McDonough of Scranton;  grandchildren Lisa Geda Coba and husband Oskar Coba of Anna Maria Island, FL, Adam Geda and wife Erica of St Augustine, FL, Natalie Colosimo of Gainsville, Florida, Sara Geda Llorente and husband Juan of Miami Beach, FL,  Jessica Klonoski of Scranton, Leslie Ferguson and husband Ryan of Dunmore, Kelsey Colosimo of Austin, Texas, Joshua Klonoski and wife Amber of Waverly, Emily Klonoski Keeler and husband Michael of Hellertown,  Jacob Geda of Dupont and Andrea Geda and fiance Thomas McDonnell of Pittston;  great grandchildren  Savanna Love Coba, Salvatore Geda LLorente, John, James and Elizabeth Ferguson, Jack and Ben Keeler, Abigail Klonoski, and a new great-grandaughter arriving in November; nieces Dawn Duffy Kavulich, Susan Duffy Bartolacci and Peggy Duffy Zweibel.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Marilyn (Mame) McDonough Duffy Higgins, Anna McDonough and Dorothy McDonough .

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Marywood Heights for the compassionate, dedicated and excellent care they provided Peggy while she was in their care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at  10am in the Marian Chapel in the Swartz Center for Spiritual Life on the Marywood University Campus (O’Neill Circle)

Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9am until time of Mass in the Chapel.

The family kindly requests that all in attendance please wear facial coverings. 

Inurnment, private in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation and Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
