Ellen Graham Guse

Ellen Graham Guse, Roaring Brook Twp., passed away late Friday at home. She was the widow of Robert W. Guse Sr., who passed away on April 1, 2014. The couple had been married for 60 years.

Ellen was born and raised in Hyde Park. After graduating from West Scranton High School, she received her nursing diploma at St. Mary’s Nursing School. Ellen dedicated her career to caring for the critically ill at Mercy Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit as a RN.

Ellen had a fierce, dynamic and passionate personality. She loved deeply, had the ability to sense when anyone needed help and touched so many lives. Our hearts are broken as she will be missed beyond measure.

Surviving are children, Barbara Hijazi and her husband, Dr. Saadeddine, Robert Guse, Denise Eiden and her husband, Jim, Maury Ellen Guse, Allison Carling and her husband, John, Kristine McGuigan and her husband, Robert, and John Robert Guse and his wife, Paula; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ellen was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Barbara Guse; and son-in-law, Richard “Ozzie” Osborne.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Eulalia, 214 Blue Shutters Road, Roaring Brook Twp., PA 18444. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of Mass in the church. Inurnment to follow in Fairview Memorial Park.

    I am so sorry to hear of Ellens’ passing. My deepest condolences and prayers for her and your family. I was a brand new Nurse when we started working together at Mercy. I admired her greatly and always will. She was a cherished co-worker, teacher, mentor, and friend, in and outside of work. Gods’ blessings to all of you. May she rest in peace.

    Loved Ellen! She was a wonderful mentor to me as a new graduate nurse in Peds at Mercy Hospital. She was funny as hell and a great supervisor!
