Robert W. Burns, Jr.

Robert W. Burns, Jr., West Scranton, passed away Monday night in the Regional Hospital after an illness.  His wife of 53 years is the former Linda Jeffries.

Born 1946 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert W., Sr and Elizabeth C. Poole Burns, educated in Scranton schools he was a 1964 graduate of West Scranton High School.  He was a member of the Simpson West Park United Methodist Church where he held many offices and after its closing he was a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church.  He was a proud United States Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Ashland LSD-1.  Prior to his retirement he was employed by Scrantonian Tribune in the Circulation Department. 

Also surviving are a son Robert W. Burns, III and his wife Jennifer of West Grove, PA.;  a daughter Janine Heater and her husband Mark of Emmaus; brothers W. Keith Burns of Scranton and D. Wayne Burns of Scott Twp.;  beloved grandchildren Joshua Thomas and Elle Jane;  two nieces Karen and Kimberly;  nephew David.

Graveside services will be held Friday at Noon in the Abington Hills Cemetery, 800 Morgan Highway, South Abington Twp., PA with Rev. Eric Luczak officiating.

Military honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail.

    We have known Bobby for many years and are heartbroken to hear of his passing. He was a good man, a great friend and had a wonderful sense of humor. Paul and I know he is resting at peace now and the tremors have stopped at last. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
