Frederick C. Ferber

Frederick C. Ferber of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Pleasant Mount Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord, unexpectedly after a short illness, Friday, October 18, 2024 at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. He was welcomed into Heaven on his 89th birthday.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Seth Ferber and brother William Ferber.

Fred is survived by his loving, devoted wife Catherine (Kate) Ferber, his sister Sandra Ferber, children Gary (Ming) Ferber, Marilyn (Rob) Youngs, Jacqueline (Tim) Shipose, Michael (Nancy) Kelly and Jackie (Brett) Queipo. Grandchildren, Ashley (Joe) Gaige, Joshua (Miranda) Ferber, Molly Ferber, Erin (Connor) Gallagher Evan Youngs, Jacob Tyler, Audrey (Eric) Senior, Jared (Jessica) Tyler, Nicole Banks, Taylor (Reece) Campbell and Joe Kelly. Great grandchildren, Andrew Crissey, Ryleigh Layman, Adelyn Gaige, Olivia Gallagher and Charlotte Campbell and nephew Ben Ferber. Fred is also survived by his cat Shadow and by many special friends.

Fred was born in Endicott, New York. He graduated in 1953 from Union-Endicott High School and attended Harpur College, Binghamton, NY. He joined the Army in October 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958 as Sargant E5. Fred worked at many places over his lifetime, Swift and Co., ACME Market and AT&T (Bell Telephone). After retirement from AT&T Fred enjoyed being busy and worked many jobs over the years although his favorite was working at Highlights for Children Magazine in Honesdale, PA.

Fred enjoyed many hobbies including building and flying RC airplanes and bowling, but most of all he loved fishing. In recent years, Fred and Kate enjoyed many good times with friends, dining out, playing card games, dominoes and outings to local plays and events. Even at his age, he enjoyed time at the local gym. He has also been known to tell a good story joke to anyone who was willing to listen.

Fred and Kate moved to Lakeland, Florida after spending many years in Upstate New York and
Pennsylvania. Wherever Fred and Kate called home, they found a church and became active members of the church and community. Along the way they have made so many dear friends and consider so many people family.

Fred and Kate currently belong to The American Baptist Church of Lakeland. Fred will rest easy knowing the friendships he’s made and the faith he believes, will someday bring them together again.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The American Baptist Church of Lakeland at on Wednesday
November 13, 2024 at 1100 AM.

Interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL.
Thursday November 14,2024 at 2:00 PM.
