It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Salvatore John Giumento of Dunmore, Pennsylvania. He peacefully passed away on November 29th at Allied Services Hospice Center after a courageous 41 year battle with Muscular Dystrophy. He is a beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He is missed deeply by his Amazing, Supportive, Best Friend and Wife of 48 years, Kathryn. He will always be remembered for his Strength and Determination.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania Son of the late Salvatore J. Giumento and the late Annette Bishop. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and employed by Haddon Craftsman before his retirement.
Salvatore known by most as Sam, was talented beyond measure. He played and wrote music. He instilled a deep love of music in his children, who will always envision him with a guitar in his hands. He was an avid Beatles fan. For him being surrounded by music was peace. Those who love him will always fondly think of him when they hear a Beatles song.
Salvatore is survived by Wife Kathryn Sulz Giumento; Daughter Maria Giumento Burrell and her Husband Mark; Son Michael Giumento; Sister Micki Lutian and her Husand Joseph; his Beloved Granddaughter Mia Bella Burrell; countless Nieces and Nephews; and his buddy and constant companion his dog Big Louie.
He is preceded in death by Brother Paul Craven.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be April 5th at 3pm at Sts. Francis and Clare Progressive Catholic Church 3343 Greenwood Ave., Scranton, Pennsylvania 18507 by Rev. William Mentz, Pastor.
Friends may call from 2pm until the time of Mass at the Church.
Interment is Private at the convenience of the Family.

Some of my best memories of being younger were with Uncle Sam. My first baseball glove came from him, the conversations we had. He was more than an uncle when I was young. He was a good friend. I was lucky enough to spend a good amount of time with Uncle Sammy and Aunt Kathy. Heaven got a great man.
