Paul M. Durkin

Paul M Durkin, Moosic,  passed away late Saturday night in the Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton

Born April 8, 1947 in Scranton he was the son of James “Turk” and Helen Brzostowski Durkin and was educated in Scranton schools and was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School.  Upon his graduation, Paul entered the United States Air Force, where he served our country honorably for 20 years.  Upon his honorable discharge, he went on to work at both Haddon Craftsman as well as the VA Center on Pittston Avenue as their office manager.

Paul will be remembered as a man who always took care of his family and friends. He was always willing to help them in any way shape or form. There was no task or request too big or too small for Paul to help. He truly will be missed.

Also, surviving are his sister Diane “Cookie” Shoemaker, and her children, Linda Paone, and her husband Dominick, Janine Tsikalas and her companion Ronald Urban, Jr., Cynthia Shoemaker and her companion Michael Link and Jamie O’Neil and her husband Brandon; his best friend John Pasco and his three daughters Norine, Shannon and Sabrina who thought of Paul as their uncle;  great nieces and nephews; cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his brother James P Durkin, Jr.  

Funeral services and military honors will be held Sunday, April 6 at 4 PM in the Vanston and James funeral home 1401 Ash St. Scranton. 

Friends may call Sunday from 2 PM until the time of the service.

In internment private at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages memorial contributions be made in Paul’s honor to the Allied Services Hospice Center 511 Morgan Highway, Scranton PA 18508.
