Leslie Earl Smith

Leslie Earl Smith, 80, Clarks Summit, died Tuesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit after an illness.   His wife of 60 years is the former Dale A. Aston.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leslie and Dolly Phillips Smith.  He was a 1954 graduate of West Scranton High School.  Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a distribution manager for the former McKinney Warehouse and later for Arlington Industries.  Leslie served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1954 to 1962.  He was a 50year member of Acacia Lodge 579 F. & AM and also of the Countryside Community Church.

Leslie was an avid fisherman and loved to sing, play the harmonica and banjo for his church.  He was also very proud of his Welsh heritage. 

Also surviving are two sons David of Moosic and Richard and his wife Linda of Scranton; brothers Warren Smith and his wife Ann of Clarks Summit and Robert Smith and his wife Delores of Taylor; granddaughters Celeste Smith of Moosic, Megan Mirfield of Arkansas, Kaitlyn Rettura and husband Anthony and Kelsey Smith and her fiancé Tim Grason all of Scranton;  nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter in law Cindy Kemler Smith.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1pm in the Countryside Community Church 14011 Orchard Dr. Ransom Twp. conducted by Rev. Mark Terwilliger, pastor.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until time of service. 

Interment, private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Countryside Community Church 14011 Orchard Dr. Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
