John “Jack” Sepelyak, Sr., Olyphant, died Saturday in the Commonwealth Hospice at the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness.

He was born March 23, 1945 in Scranton and was the son of the late Michael and Helen Sepelyak.  Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a tile and marble contractor throughout the area.  He was a United States Army veteran.

Surviving are a daughter Debbie Sepelyak Gronski and her husband Joseph of Phoenexville; a son John Sepelyak, Jr. and his wife Sara of Lake Ariel; a brother Robert Sepelyak of Duryea; grandchildren Carissa Gronski-Morris, Laura Gronski, Joseph, Gronski Jr., Jack Sepelyak and Ella Sepelyak who is due on May 1;  a great grandson Shane Morris;  an aunt Irene Sepelyak; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers Michael and George.

A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 10am in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7pm.

Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
