Gertrude Ott Reese, 101, West Scranton, died early Saturday morning in the Abington Manor where she had been a resident after an illness.  She was the widow of Milton S. Ott who died in 1967 and John H. Reese who died in 1992.

She was born June 5, 1912 in Scranton, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Margaret Williams Hughes.   She was a member of the United Baptist Church where she had served as a Deaconess and was also active in it’s Cymdeithas Class, the Women’s Association and it’s Quilter’s Group.  Her other memberships included the Jackson Heights Senior Citizens and the Young at Heart of the Jackson St Baptist Church.   She had been employed by the Clarks Summit State Hospital and prior to retirement had been employed by the Prestwood Photo. 

Surviving are a son Bruce Ott and his wife Janet of S. Abington Twp.; a daughter Peggy Lou Galella of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren;  three great grandchildren;  several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister Jane Nash.   

All attending the funeral service are invited to go directly to the church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am in the United Baptist Church, 213 South Main Ave. West Scranton.

Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Interment, Washburn St. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Baptist Church Memorial Fund 213 S. Main Ave. Scranton 18504.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vanston & James Funeral Home and are under the care and direction of Robert C. Jones, Funeral Director.
