Ruth “Peggy” Hennigan

Ruth “Peggy” Hennigan, 94, Scranton, died Sunday in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania after an illness. She was the widow of Edward Hennigan.
Born 1920 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Romayne Touhill and step daughter of the late Joseph Murphy. Peggy resided at Lutherwood Apartments for 14 years, Arlington, Virginia for 23 years and Cape May, New Jersey for 11 years. She was member of the St. John Neumann Parish in Scranton.
A special thank you to her caregivers Lucy Hennigan, Georgene DePrimo, Pat Burke, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, the Jewish Home as well as all of her friends at Lutherwood.
Surviving are her daughter Sharon Kyle and her husband Dave; a son Edward Hennigan; grandchildren Kim, Heather and Brian; a great grandson Brandon; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart 600 Baltimore Dr. Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18702

Thank you to all our friends and family. My Grandmother had an amazing life and we were so lucky to have her. I’ll miss her laugh the most and when she’d ask me to hand her “her whatachmacallit” that was “over on the thing” it was like playing our own personal claw game 🙂 She was truly one of a kind. Thank you to Aunt Lucy and my sister Kim for taking such good care of her.
