Alexandra T. Chaffers

Alexandra T. Chaffers, Dickson City, formerly of Port Washington, New York, died early Friday morning in the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center, Sturges after an illness. She was the widow of Joseph W. Chaffers.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Caroline Lauer Teblemann. She attended Hunter College and was a retired employee of Publishers Clearing House, Port Washington, New York where she had been employed for 30years. She was a former member of the Lady of Fatima Church, Port Washington.
She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed spending her summers with her family on the beach at Fire Island, a special place to her since her childhood.
Surviving are a daughter Caroline Chaffers of New Hampshire; two grandsons, her Alexander Chaffers and his wife Lori, her caregivers of Dickson City and Paul Chaffers and his wife Anya of Glenwood Landing, Long Island, New York; a great granddaughter Angela Chaffers; daughter in law Kerri Gorman of Long Boat Key, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her son William H. Chaffers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton with Rev. Scott Loomer, pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to be made to the North Shore Animal League 25 Davis Ave. Port Washington, NY 11050.
