Eleanor G. Cannon, a resident of the Gino J. Merli Veteran Center, Scranton, formerly of Englewood, FL, died early Tuesday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness.  She was the widow of James Cannon.   The couple had been married 57 years.

Born January 25, 1922 in Boston, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Earl and Isabel (Rice) Willard.   She was a graduate of Hamden High School.  After high school, she attended Larson Junior College.   She was a United States Navy veteran serving in the U.S. Naval Reserve (Women’s Reserve), during World War II.

Surviving are grandchildren Malinda Barends and her husband Shannon of Fleetwood, Kathleen Anderson and her husband Bryan of Exeter Township, and  Robert Cannon of Mohnton; great-grandchildren Dylan, Michaella, and Gavin Barends; a sister, Ann Jackson of Houston, Texas; and a daughter-in-law, Bronwyn Cannon of Mohnton.

She was also preceded in death by her sons Michael, Robert, and Willard Cannon.

Military services and interment will be held at a future date in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
