Richard G. Hawk 92, of Cape Coral Florida, Masonic Villages Elizabethtown, Pa. and formerly of Scranton Passed away December 24, at Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral, Florida. He was married to Marlyn Beppler Hawk and celebrated their 44 year anniversary on April 10, 2020.
Born in Scranton Son of the Late Elmer G. And Gertrude Jones Hawk. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Army Transportation Corp at the end of World War 2. Following his return he became General Manager of Birch and Birch Cadillac in Dover, N.J. He returned to Pa. to operate the Gertrude Hawk Restaurant a division of Gertrude Hawk Chocolates Dunmore, Pa. founded by his mother. Later he was employed by Mt. Airy Lodge as its Human Resource director until his retirement. He was a former member of Embury United Methodist Church where he served as President of the trustees and Co-Chair of the Finance Committee. A member of Faith Presbyterian Church Cape Coral, Florida
Dick was a Master Mason with dual membership in Hyde Park lodge # 339 and Waverly Lodge # 301. He served as Most Wise Master and Commander in Chief of Scottish Rite in the Valley of Scranton. Coronated a 33rd Mason and an active member of the Supreme Council for the State of Pa. where he still served as an Active Emeritus Member.
Also surviving are a son Gregory and wife Ellen of Denton, Texas, a daughter Janet DeCaito and husband Ronnie of Livingston, N.J., a daughter Pamela Heinly and husband Tim of Shillington, Pa 4 grandchildren Matthew Hawk, Amanda DeCaito, Courtney and Hunter Heinly several nieces and nephews and many good friends.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date with interment in Dunmore Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton.
