Fulgenzio “Tony” Nicolini

Fulgenzio “Tony” Nicolini, 83, who was most recently of South Abington but previously a longtime resident of Cape Coral, FL, passed away Friday evening.  He was in the presence of his devoted wife Judith, loving daughter Eugenia, and beloved son in law Tom while in supportive care of Allied Hospice services.

Born in Paterson, NJ, Tony was the son of the late Giovanna Cassarino Nicolini and Gaetano Nicolini. Tony was a graduate of Passaic High School & Paterson College before starting his career as a teacher that spanned more than three decades.

Along with his passion for education, Tony was active in fitness and bodybuilding. From training in gyms at 14, training others in his own gym, to judging weight lifting competitions in Turkey & Europe, he was dedicated to the sport. He was involved with USA Powerlifting, Senior Games of Florida, and Ft. Myers Track Club.

Tony was one of a kind in his quiet but strong voice of reason. He had the ability to give precise, short words of wisdom for the most complex issues. He guided his family and friends through every chapter of life with his advice. Long time friends would call Tony on a weekly basis for his wisdom. He was truly a treasure to all who knew him.

Tony is survived by his wife Judith of 38 years, his daughter Eugenia & son in law Tom DePietro, along with grandchildren Dominica, Adriana, and “his” Anthony, all who he loved so very much.
Daughter Tara and son Gary both of New Jersey will also carry his memory.

Our amazing husband, dad & pop pop is now reunited in heaven with his mother Giovanna, father Gaetano, sister Domenica, Uncle Sam, as well as his Noni- all who he called on in his final moments.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Dempsey and Laura, Kelly, Dan and the entire staff of Allied Hospice for their incredible care and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 4th at 10am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton by Rev. Patrick McLaughlin, pastor.
