Karen Lynn Straub, 58, of Scranton passed away early Wednesday morning at the Dorms of Allied Services, after an illness. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Karen was the daughter of the late Herbert T. and Mary Furey Straub.
Karen was greatly loved by so many; especially by her family and those who provided her daily care. She was a beautiful person inside and out- kind, loving, with a great sense of humor.
Surviving are an Aunt Alice Domenick of Dunmore; a beloved niece Gabriella T. Straub and wife Tiffany of Scranton; a great-niece and great-nephew Minda Rose and Gabriel Joseph; a Sister-in-law Rosalie M. Colachino Straub; other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers John Joseph “Jack” Straub and Herbert T. Straub Jr., as well as a nephew Herbert T. Straub III, aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Dorms for the exceptional care and compassion shown toward Karen for the past 5 years, as well as the Advocacy Alliance for their support of Karen over the last 10.
The funeral will be Monday, August 28 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 PM at Ss. Francis and Clare Progressive Catholic Church, 3343 Greenwood Avenue, Moosic, the Reverend William A. Mentz, pastor presiding.
Friends may call from 6 PM until the time of Mass in the church.
A private cremation took place at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
Inurnment to take place at a future date in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
