Richard “Ricky” Miller, Lake Ariel, passed away unexpectedly Thursday at his home.
Born 1959 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank “Bumpy” and Romaine Miller and grew up in the Nativity section of Scranton. Surviving are his son Tyler Miller of Scranton; brothers Thomas Miller and his companion Ann Marie Scheller of Scranton and Donald Miller and his companion Vicky Smith of Greentown; his companion Barb Bayly; nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Ricky was educated in Scranton schools and was a graduate of the former Bishop Klonowski High School where in 1976 he and his teammates went on to win the state basketball championship. He was an avid golfer and won several golf tournaments at the Hideout where his former home was located along the 8th Hole. In recent years, he was fortunate to spend his winters in Florida.
Rick worked for many years at Panel Prints but more recently was the owner of Bumpy Road Antiques, Lake Ariel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 16th at 10am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave. Scranton by Rev. Jeffrey D. Tudgay, pastor.
Friends may call Saturday from 9am until the time of Mass at the church.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages memorial contributions be made in Ricky’s honor to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter 967 Griffin Pond Rd South Abington Twp PA 18411.
