Barbara A. Hawk

Barbara A. Hawk, 88, of Clarks Summit, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Dunmore Health Care Center.


Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lee W. and Majorie H. Hale-Reid. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School class of 1953 and Keystone College class of 1955. Barbara began her professional career at WGB1 Radio – WDAU TV in the accounting department. She also worked in the accounting, payroll and candy making departments at Gertrude Hawk Chocolates for 30 years and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for 23 years as a bookkeeper. Barbara spent her retirement serving lunches at senior centers for Telespond.


Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Heinly, of Shillington, Pa.; grandchildren Courtney Heinly and her fiancé, John Mulder; and Hunter Heinly and his companion, Ashley Beeh.


She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Esther Reid.


Private cremation took place at the Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.


Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton, and are under the care and direction of Henry Roever, funeral director.

    Condolences to Pamela and family. I knew your mother from Embury. Barbara was such a kind person and had a great laugh. My Dad and I would often see your Mother at the glider diner. I also saw her at the candy store.
