Gerald L. Miller, Sr.

 Gerald L. Miller, Sr., 91, formerly of the Petersburg section of Scranton, died Friday night at Abington Manor after an illness.  His wife of 69 years is the former Joan Elizabeth Ries.  The couple was married on June 19, 1954, in the Petersburg Presbyterian Church. 

Born 1932 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret Kilmer Miller.  He was a graduate of the Scranton Central High School and the Pennsylvania State University.  Prior to his retirement he was the President of the Duryea Lumber Company.  He served honorably in the United States Army.  He was a Shriner and a member of Schiller Lodge #345, F&AM serving as Worshipful Master in 1964.

Also surviving are a daughter, Joann Vought and her husband Thomas of Morganville, NJ; son, Gerald L. Miller, Jr. and his wife Maggie of Kingsley, PA; a granddaughter, Kimberly Vought of Rego Park, NY             .

Funeral services will be held private and at the convenience of the family in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton and officiated by Rev. Bill Carter, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit.

Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
