Salvatore Luongo, Scranton, 96, died early Sunday morning in the Tiffany Court at Kingston. His first wife was Ellen L. Barlow Luongo who died in 2000.
Born 1927 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Isabelle Santoli Luongo and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He was of the Catholic faith. Prior to his retirement he had been employed as a barber as well as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. He served honorably in the United States Army.
Surviving are his wife Bette Herring Luongo; daughters Lisa Miller and Cheryl Borden; sons Guy Luongo and wife Rhonda and Thomas Luongo and his wife Renee; stepson Brit and his wife Jessica; grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Brittney Luongo and Steven Miller and fiancé Jean; step grandson Glenn; several great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by sons in law Donald “Donny” Miller and Stanley Borden; brothers Gaetano and Frank Luongo.
A Blessing service and military honors will be held Friday at 2pm in the Chapel at Fairview Memorial Park, Route 435 Elmhurst Township, PA by Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made in Sal’s memory to the donor’s favorite charity.
