Julie T. Ludka

Julie T. Ludka, S. Abington Twp, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Sunday morning in the Allied Services Hospice Center after a courageous and hard-fought battle with breast cancer.  Her devoted husband of 17 years is Michael Ludka.

Born August 21, 1975, in Scranton, she was the daughter of Val and Julie Revta Larioni of Jefferson Twp. and was a 1993 graduate of North Pocono High School.  She went on to earn both her Bachelor of Science Degree as well as a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton.   Julie was a well-respected, knowledgeable, and caring physical therapist in the greater Scranton area for nearly 25 years.   She worked at Mercy Hospital, Caregivers of America, and was currently employed by Compass Home Health.  She was a member of the Church of St Gregory.

Julie’s greatest joy and purpose came from being a mother and a wife. She lived to create a loving home for her children and loved supporting them in their many activities and accomplishments. As long as she was with her children, she was happy, and their contentment was her priority. She was also a devoted wife who was never far from her husband’s side. Family was simply her passion.

Also surviving are the lights of her life, daughters Maeve and Celia Ludka; her beloved sister and best friend Chrissy Ludka and her husband Thomas of Jefferson Township; her father and mother-in-law Thomas and Joan Ludka of Florida.

She was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the caring doctors, nurses, and staff at Geisinger CMC, Hematology and Oncology of NEPA, and Allied Hospice. Also, a special thanks to the family, friends and colleagues that have generously supported her fight over the past year.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11am in the Church of St. Gregory 330 N. Abington Road Clarks Summit, PA 18411

Friends may call Friday morning from9:30am to 10:50am in the church.

Growing up, your house was the only place I would have a sleepover. I will never forget the countless hours we spent singing ABBA, rubbing backs in a row with our sisters, playing Plinko in your garage, family vacations, college hang outs,… you’ve played such a big part in my life! And I’m grateful for that. I’ll miss your beautiful smile – it was so big it hid your eyes! I’ll never forget you! Rest in peace, my beautiful friend.

My deepest condolences and love to Julie, Val, Chrissy, Michael and those beautiful girls. XO

Julie was the embodiment of what I think we all want to be able to look back and say–she made people feel good by being around her. I think of her and I feel good. I am devastated to have lost touch for too many years and can’t make up for that, but she lives in my heart. Julie was loving, authentic, selfless, strong, warm, and she loved those lucky enough to be part of her life just for who they were. That’s such a gift to the world. She has an incredible family that will hold and pay forward the beauty of who she was in perpetuity. You will be terribly missed, my dear friend.
