Mary Jane Panunti

Mary Jane Panunti, 83 of the Petersburg section of Scranton, passed away Tuesday, May 21st at Green Ridge Care Center. Her husband Mario J. Panunti passed away in 2000.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Redesky Raub. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School Class of 1958. Prior to retirement, Mary Jane was an Intake Specialist at the Scranton Counseling Center, and after retirement volunteered at Community Medical Center.

She enjoyed singing, dancing, photography, gardening, and her pets.

Survivng are her daughters Susan M. Dougherty and her husband Bernard, Jr. of Taylor, and Rachele Pollina and her husband Richard of Olyphant; sons Anthony Gruszkiewicz and his wife Kathryn of Fleetville, Mark Gruszkiewicz of Olyphant, and Christopher Gruszkiewicz of Scranton; grandchildren Mark Anthony Gruszkiewicz, Alyssa Marie Dougherty, Gabrielle Elizabeth Pollina, and Bernard Thomas Dougherty, III; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Frederick and Edward Raub.

Friends may call on Friday, May 24th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Private Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary Jane’s memory may be made to donor’s choice.

    I was so sad to hear of Mary Jane’s passing, She was such a kind and loving person. I hadn’t seen her in many years, but I feel blessed to have known her and shared many good times together. My condolences to her children and grandchildren.
