Alice M. Diskin

Alice M. Diskin, 95, a lifelong resident of the Minooka section of Scranton, died late Wednesday in the Northeast Pa Hospice Unit at the Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. She was the widow of Joseph T. Diskin, Sr who died in 1997.
She was born in Avoca, daughter of the late Richard and Ann Moore O’Donnell. She was a graduate of the former Minooka High School and was a faithful parishioner of the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church for over 90 years. Prior to retirement she had been employed by the Mercy Hospital in the housekeeping department.
The family wants to give special thanks to her caregivers Kathy and Colleen.
Surviving are her children Richard Diskin and his wife Elizabeth Ann of Ft. Myers, Fl. Diane Haggerty of Dunmore, Joseph T. Diskin, Jr. and his wife Carol Ann of Minooka, James Diskin and his wife Renee of St. Simons Island, Ga, Susanne Jacobs and her husband Jeremia of Raleigh, NC, Maureen Lyons and her husband Patrick of Clarks Summit, Thomas Diskin and his companion Nina of Medford, Or, and Patrick Diskin and his wife Cathy of Alexandria, Va.; twenty two grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son in law Joseph O. Haggerty; siblings Dorothy O’Donnell, Mae Mahon, Helen Judge, Anna Regan, Edward, William, Richard, Bud and James O’Donnell.
Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church.
Mass of Christina Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30am in the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church 321 Davis St. Scranton.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-6pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.
Interment, parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph’s Church 312 Davis St. Scranton 18505.

We where saddened to hear about your mothers death but it brought back fond memories and good times at 2801 Pittston Ave. She was such a nice lady. God Blessed her with a long and full life surrounded by her kind and loving children. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.
