Vincent P. Crane

Vincent P. Crane, 96, a resident of Wesley Village, Laflin, formerly of the Petersburg section of East Scranton, passed away Monday morning in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital after an illness. He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, the former Ruth Lloyd.
Born September 7, 1917 in Scranton, Vincent was a son of the late William and Catherine Murphy McNamara Crane and was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. Just prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a custodian at the East Scranton Branch of Penn Security Bank, and previously had been a foreman at the former A&P Warehouse and GW Brown and AJ Mulderig trucking companies. He was a member of the South Side Bachelor’s Club. Vincent was especially proud to have served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the Seabees.
Also surviving are daughters Beverly Worthington (Carl), West Wyoming; Lois Turnauer (Harold), Linglestown; sons William Crane (Dorothy), Elmhurst; and Robert Crane (Susan), Scranton; grandchildren Carl, Jill, Jodi, Kelly, Ellen, Brian, Sarah and Matthew; great grandchildren Timothy, Jonathan, Alexandria, Landon, Lia, Justin, Brennan, Delaney and Reid.
Vincent was preceded in death by sisters Mary Thornton, Catherine Cook, Marie Marchese and Claire Thomas; brothers Thomas McNamara, Willard, James, Joseph, Francis, Paul and Robert Crane and his and Ruth’s canine buddies Jake and Benny.
The family would like to thank the staff of Anderson Personal Care and Partridge-Tippett Nursing Home (both of Wesley Village) for their compassionate, attentive care of our father/grandfather while he resided there for over eight years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11 at the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton, PA 18510 officiated by Rev. Paul S. Howden, Grace Reformed Episcopal Church, Scranton.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
