Arleen B. Gallagher

Arleen B. Gallagher, 85, of Dunmore, died Friday in the Geisinger-Community Medical Center after an illness.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert R. Gallagher who died on August 24, 2012. The couple was married on March 27, 1976.

Born December 12, 1938, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Mathilda Hruska Wagner, she was a graduate of the Weehawken High School, Weehawken, New jersey as well as the Berkeley Secretarial School, New York City.  She was employed by the Columbia Broadcasting System for 19years where she met her husband.  Arleen was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Church and she enjoyed skiing, playing the piano, traveling and baking cookies. 

She is survived by her brother Dennis A. Wagner and his wife Maryann.  Also surviving are eight nieces Denise Heinemann and her husband William, Karen d’Entrement and her husband Joseph, Amy Wagner, Kerry Kearney and her husband Thomas Armstrong, Maureen Casey, Kathleen Coates, Leah Ingrasci and Treva Ingrasci; three nephews Dennis M. Wagner and his wife Marjie, Charles Ingrasci and his wife Patti and Michael Ingrasci; numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by members of the Gallagher family including Msgr. John P. Gallagher, Ph.D., Catherine Kearney Jablonski, Margaret Miller, Mary Wagner and Patricia Ingrasci. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 27th at 10am in the Immaculate Conception Church 801 Taylor Ave Scranton.  All attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning.

Friends may call Friday from 4-6pm in the Vanston and James Funeral Home 1401 Ash St. Scranton.

Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

    Arleen was always so warm and loving, especially to our boys Marcus and James who she remembered every Christmas and birthday with a card and money for the treat of their choice. She was a kind soul who we will miss her dearly, especially while visiting the rest of the family in Scranton.
