Anne Marie Payton of Scranton passed away early Thursday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, she was the only child of the late Walter and Anne Barrett Payton. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School as well as Lackwanna Business College. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Prudential Insurance for 38 years. She was a member of St. Pauls’ Parish and attended St. Clare’s Church.
A lady in the truest sense, Anne Marie was extremely intellgent, kind, diginfied and loyal. She was known for her exquisite taste and appreciation for beauty. She was a woman of great faith, who was a devoted supporter of Catholic charities. Anne Marie was beloved by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are cousins: Marion O’Connor, Jane, Kristie and Kenny McDowell, Gene and Lorraine Boland, Peggy Boland, Patrick J.Boland III and wife Michele, Maura Boland and husband Nick Inzillo, Chris Boland and wife Kelly and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by: Alice Barrett, Patrick J. Boland, U.S. Congressman Patrick J. Boland and wife Verionca Barrett Boland.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Besher Kabak, M.D., as well as the ICU nurses of the Regional Hospital of Scranton, in particular, Kathy, Randy and Carlin for their compassionate care.
Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00AM in St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton.
Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00PM in the Vanston and James Funeral Home, 1401 Ash St., Scranton. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
