Mildred Yurechko

Mildred Yurechko, 91, of Scranton, passed away Friday evening at home after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joseph J. Yurechko, who passed away June 12, 2000. 

Born in McAdoo, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Laylo) Bobeck. She was a member of St. Paul’s/St. Clare’s Parish Community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed assembling jigsaw puzzles and completing the daily newspaper puzzles.   She loved all animals, and delighted in feeding the birds and strays that entered her yard.   She deeply loved her grandchildren and more recently, her four great grandchildren were the light of her life. 

Surviving are daughters Karen Caparo and her husband James of South Abington, Susan Bittenbender and her husband Barry of Clarks Summit, and Joanne Reichle and her husband Paul of Throop; a son Joseph C. Yurechko of Scranton; grandchildren Kevin Yurechko and his significant other Nicole Dupay, Steven, Christopher, Brittany Pehonich and her husband Mike and Bridgit Hizny and her husband Ray; great – grandchildren Aleksey, Matthew, Jaxon, and Maxwell; sister Anna Marie Shema of Cypress, Tx; brother Michael Bobeck of Allentown; sister-in-law Theresa Gronsky of Berwick; many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Sirkot and a brother Joseph Bobeck.

The family wishes to thank Holly and Danielle from Traditional Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to mom and her family.

A special thank you to Linda Mulrain who took care of our mom as her own, and who made sure her hairdo was always perfect. And last, a loving thank you to Marjorie Ecker, who grew up with us as another daughter and whose mom was Mildred’s best friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00am in St. Clare’s Church, 2251 N. Washington Ave. Scranton, Pa by Msgr. John Sempa. 

Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00am until the time of Mass.  

Private inurnment at the convenience of the family. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to and are under the care and direction of  the Vanston and James Funeral Home, Scranton. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mildred’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Friends with Paws Animal Rescue, 1443 Sanderson Avenue, Scranton PA 18509.
